For in that strange area of the Atlantic known as the Bermuda Triangle ships and planes have continually disappeared in mysterious circumstances - in good weather, without warning and without trace. Planes like the five US Navy Avenger bombers on a routine flight from Fort Lauderdale; suddenly the flight leader radioed the control tower to say that they were lost and unable to tell in which direction they were flying. A rescue flight set out, but all six planes disappeared forever without trace. Ships like the five abandoned vessels found during calm weather in July 1969.
