Temple Hill
Graham Randal
October 2001 and life is sweet for Jim Marshall. After a painful divorce, he’s now living in Thailand, running a small club and in love with his dream woman. But there’s trouble in paradise; when his sister calls to tell him their father has died, he reluctantly returns to Temple Hill, the small Scottish town he grew up in, for the funeral.
He finds that Temple Hill has changed for the worse. A man called Drew Grieve - a loan shark and drug-dealer - has a grip on the town. When Marshall discovers that both his sister and niece are being exploited by Grieve, he tries to intervene but ends up fighting for his life.
Grieve and his hired thugs have made a fatal error: conflict is second nature to Marshall and, with the help of a trusted friend, he sets out to even the score.
Fast moving and character-driven, Temple Hill is a bruising, small-town crime story. Its themes of loyalty, family and violent revenge are universal. It was always intended to be an old-school, uncomplicated tale, one that was tightly written and, hopefully, well-told.
